These two 'axonometric' images have been added retrospectively as I didn't have my computer when we were meant to work on them in the studio.
The theme of this prototype is balance. Here the original moleskin Axonometric(below)has been developed to more fully express this.
Balance expresses an important element in the lives and thinking of Darwin and Kuepper. Darwin needed to balance his revolutionary theory with the religious nature of his times. His own wife was a devout christian. In the quote I've used Darwin's rhetorical question alludes to the balancing required in order to appropriately propound his theory in an antagonistic environment.
For Nicole Kuepper her challenge is how to bring the benefits of modern technology to the world's poor in a sustainable way. This is a more direct requirement for balance. However where Darwin only had to change people's minds Kuepper has to change economic models. Quite a task.
