Palazzo Farnese

Palazzo Farnese is a grand building in a very dense setting. While I prefer more delicate a discrete works it is hard not to be impressed with the simplicity of the plan, the orderly rear elevation and the strength and completeness provided by the cornice. Although not appreciated in this photo the Palazzo Farneze sits in the middle of a piazza that provides ample room for civic life while constrictions along both sides add variety to the piazza and blend with the general street style of Rome.
